Grim Tales: Devil's Fear, part 14

---Visions---

Mandy walks back to the others behind the glass. A scientist presses a button and all the cracks in the room are fixed. "That kind of technology has always impressed me", Minnie thinks. Minnie could seed they were thinking about what they should do next, punishment or some more training.
After a few minutes, Mandy comes back. "I suppose your punishment can wait until next time. We have no time for it today. However, you shall train in physical combat, your powers and...something new"
"Something new?", Minnie asks.
"Yes"
"I was wondering...where do I even get these powers? I know that powers can be passed down from generations, but I've never read about a Caster in our family. Then again I do not read that much about our ancestors.."
"Hazel Reaper"
"Who was she?"
"Look it up. All you need to know is that you got your powers from her because she was in the royal family. Ryker!"
A guard walks in as Mandy goes to the room behind the glass again. He was wearing black flexible clothes. He was tall and muscular, he was in his 20s, yet he was one of the few guards who knew about these...training methods.
"Ready to lose?", he asks.
"I wasn't built to", Minnie replies with a smirk. She jumps and tries to kick him on the head, but he kneels and dodges. He stands up and punches Minnie, he was quite strong and she was tired from her previous fight so she instantly falls on the ground from one punch. "Not.gonna.lose", she thinks to herself. She gets up and sees him in front of her. Before he makes a move she punches him in his stomach, he slides back and kicks Minnie, she hits the wall. He runs towards her but before he reaches her she rolls on the floor, uses her hands to front flip and kicks him in the face, he falls down. Minnie lands behind him and grins. "Awesome, I did it!". "Impressive, but not good enough!", he says as he gets up. They charge at each other, Minnie spins and kicks him but he grabs her leg and throws her on the ground. She yelps but gets up and punches him. Ryker then grabs her arm and spins her, throwing her on the ground. "Use your agility!", Grim instructs her. She front flips back up. Ryker punches her but she blocks it with her arm and slides behind him. She kicks him in the stomach but he barely flinches this time. He attempts to punch her and finish the fight, but she uses her super speed and runs behind him, then grabs his arm, jumps in the air and throws him. He hits the glass and falls down, creating a small pool of blood around him, but the glass still didn't break. "There! What's next?", Minnie shouts.
"You did good. Someone go and pick Ryker up", Mandy orders.
"This is...strange. Why is a teen able to defeat a member of our guard?", Grim asks.
"I trained her well. Plus, lots of hunters her age will soon be able to do it, or come close to doing it. It depends on the situation and their skill, also what they've been taught. First year hunters, even though they aren't as good as upperclassmen when it comes to fighting, will sometimes have to take on older skilled people so they have to know how to fight them. Our guard is exceptionally well trained, but so is Minnie. Plus, skill also plays a part".
"I see"
"I've been thinking...do you think Junior could be able to stand this training? I didn't train him in the first place because of you and the fact that he seemed weak at first...I wanted to see who would turn out to be the strongest. But you got too attached to Junior so I had to pick Minnie. What if Junior gets stronger now that he's in the hunter school? He's changed these past few years, for the better"
"NO! You are NOT subjecting my son to this! Minnie is supposed to be your weapon, the one who suffers, not him!"
"Alright, Alright, calm your bones. Now if you excuse me-scientists,FIRE!"
The wall opens up and high-tech guns come out of it, they all begin shooting at Minnie. She creates a shield to protect herself. "It's time for her superpower training".
After Minnie finishes that long part of her training, she lays down and pants, exhausted. She needed a break so badly but knew she couldn't ask for one. A scientist presses a button, and suddenly, the floor opens and a weird huge machine comes out of it, with a chair at the top. Minnie gets up, "H-huh?"
"You must be confused....let me explain. Some people are telepaths, mind-readers. To protect ourselves from such people, people in higher social statuses like royalty or people involved with the government take pills that can last for a few days. Those pills block telepaths, meaning they won't be able to read your mind. The pills are expensive, but that is not the main problem. The problem here is that you need to block out mind readers now more than ever, surrounded by hunters and a mind-reader principal. You are a caster, casters have the power to block out telepaths, but it's an advanced power. This is a machine designed to help witches, casters and magic-blood to block the telepaths out without being advanced magic users. It is very difficult to make, therefore very difficult to get. We're...blessed, I could say, for having this machine and we shall use it. On you. It will be difficult and very, very painful. Torture almost". "...Fine. It's not like I have a say in it".

Junior turns off his laptop and lays on his bed. "Man...I'm a bit sleepy...", he thinks to himself. He turns to the side. "Minnie's training right now...I've always wondered...what do they do there exactly? Why won't Minnie tell me? Why did they choose her? What does she have that I dont?....I must be useless. Am I selfish for thinking these things...?". Junior looks back at the times he fought with his sister. When they fought those special monsters together so they could get the ingredients for the potion and spell that would give her her normal body back. He remembers when Minnie got her mechanical eye and could finally see with two eyes. Slowly, he falls asleep.
~*Junior's dream*~
He was walking through Astralond, all alone. It was a cold, dark and rainy day. Everyone around him seemed..grey. They were so tired and it all felt so surreal. Junior just kept walking, he was confused yet somehow knew where he was going.
He stops.
In front of him, a monster. He looks around him, no-one was phased, no one...cared. Everyone just ignored him and the monster.
His clothes and hair were soaked in rain, the monster wasn't a regular monster...it was a steam-powered machine monster, yet it was conscious. It walks closer looks at Junior in the face with it's burning red eyes, steam coming out of it's mouth. "You're not a monster...are you?". Then, the mechanical beast takes a few steps back, looking irritated. "A-are you okay?", as soon as Junior finishes that sentence, the beast stands on it's back legs and from a mechanical steam powered creature it becomes a full fledged monster, black fur, spikes, same red eyes...but it still didn't feel soulless.
Junior's friends appear out of nowhere and jump in front of him, "Be careful!", Blair says and pushes Junior back, he was dumbstruck.
The rain becomes more intense.
Junior observes his friends. They weren't...themselves. No bright smiles or the warmth of their souls, just cold, desperate, sad people. Nothing but depressing fighting machines that were going nowhere. They looked like the other people, their colors looked darker, paler. They pull out their weapons and start fighting the beast.
Minnie slices part of it, it's red blood splatters on the floor, and out of it, bloom..."colors?", he says. Then, Alex and Blair also get a hit which gets the monster's blood spilled on the road and sidewalk. From those dots of blood color is brought back to the city. Junior rubs his eyes and looks around. His friends were finally themselves. "What the....", he looks towards the monster. Minnie was fighting it, she was clearly weakened and the monster's next attack would kill her. "No!", Junior jumps in front of Minnie and gets hit instead. The monster's strength sends him flying off onto a building's roof. "Ugh...", Junior was dizzy, he looks around, his head was bloodied. He notices lightning was about to hit him so he rolls of to the side, but the lightning strikes and almost throws him off the tall building...until someone grabs his hand and stops him from falling. He looks up, "Huh?", it was no other than Minnie. "You can't do this to us, you can't abandon us. We need you, you are not useless. I love you, we all do". Junior was again dumbstruck. Minnie grabs him and flies him down. "Stop!", Junior shouts at his friends. He walks towards the monster. His friends and colors disappear, but the beast also goes back to it's original mechanical form. It calms down and kneels in front of Junior. "What are you?", he asks as he approaches the beast, wanting to pet it with his hands. "I'm an illusion. Something troubled people think they are but are not". Junior hears a scream.
~*End of Junior's dream*~
Junior's eyes open wide, he was shocked by the scream he heard. "What the-!?", he sits up and looks around, but no-one was there. "Probably just my imagination...what a weird dream...", Junior shivers and hugs himself. "I'm gonna go get some hot chocolate", he gets out of bed and walks through the hallway. He passes by his sister's room and got a bad feeling, but he ignored it. He thought he was just being paranoid because of the dream. He looks outside, it was raining again.
Junior stays still for a moment and just...looks at the rain. "I want to let go. I don't want to think about these things anymore....can't we all just be happy? Everything is so confusing...".
Yeah.
